The Value of Engaged Learning in Design for Innovation in the Public Sector

Across government, there is a growing appetite for human-centered design and design thinking, especially given its buzz related to public sector innovation. As different parts of the government are exploring how to bring that capability in-house, many are exploring different approaches to design education programming that incorporate engaged learning methodologies.

If you have ever wondered about the design education initiatives occurring in the federal government or wanted to better understand engaged learning approaches, you should join us for our second Government Innovation Forum meet-up on Thursday, May 31 from 5:30-8pm at the GovLoop Office. During this interactive event, you’ll hear how The Lab at OPM, the General Services Administration and the United States Agency for International Development define and deliver design education, along with the various approaches to engaged learning that each are testing in their own offices.

Specifically, you’ll learn:

• The value and the variety of delivery methods for engaged learning in design for public servants as it relates to encouraging innovation.

• The promising, cutting-edge approaches being explored through different definitions of engaged learning.
